GAZA, March 11 (Xinhua) -- Palestinian captors of an Israeli soldier in Gaza reiterated on Sunday he will not be released until Israel accepts their demands.
"If the enemy (Israel) complied with the conditions outlined by the factions that captured Gilad Shalit in Gaza, then he will be released," said Abu Mujahed, spokesman for the Popular Resistance Committees (PRC), one of the three groups which kidnapped the soldier last June. "Without answering our fair demands, nothing can happen," Abu Mujahed added, in response to Israeli Prime Minister Ehud Olmert who said earlier in the day that the Palestinian unity government would be formed after the release of Shalit.
1.Abu Mujahed's remarks were also made following a summit meeting between Olmert and the Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas.
2.According to Israel's Channel 10 television, Abbas promised Olmert to secure the release of Shalit "soon".
3.On June 25, Hamas, the PRC and the Islamic Army captured Shalit in a cross-border raid and took him into Gaza where he has been hidden since then.
4.The captors call on Israel to release women, children and patients from the 10,000 Palestinians it holds.
